Parenting and Children

In my practice, I collaborate with parents as they help their children cope with changes such as school, marital discord, separation, divorce or the death or illness of a parent.

My goal is to promote resilience in children and their families despite the traumas or challenges they face.

As a Pediatric Psych Consultant at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, I work with children and adolescents around their adjustment to hospitalization, trauma or injury.

I also work with parents to give them tools to make their parenting easier and so they may help their children to adjust to traumatic events in their lives and prevent ongoing difficulties.

How our children make sense of their lives is not only by what happens to them but how their parents respond.

Through understanding your child better, you may respond more effectively to difficult situations, and help build the groundwork for social and emotional health.

There are ongoing developments in the field of child and adolescent psychology as well as the whole field of the science of child development and attachment. The new findings in the field of neuroplasticity support the perspective that parents can directly shape the unfolding growth of their child’s brain according to the experiences they share and the interactions they have with their children. By simply being fully present with your children and being attuned to their feelings, you can help them to thrive emotionally, intellectually and socially.
